RONDU: Independent candidate for the seat of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly from here, Engineer Manzoor Husaain Parwana said that serving the people of the region and raising the national issue and identity of the indigenous people was the motto of his life. He said that the federalist political parties have no plan for the welfare of Gilgit-Baltistan and even their manifesto did not mention the name of the area. He was talking to different delegations here the other day, says a press release. Mr Manzoor, who is also the chairman of the Gilgit-Baltistan United Movement (GBUM), added that he would take part in the elections as an independent candidate and his contest would be with all the federalist political and religious parties. He said there was a slim possibility of the religious card being sued in Rondu but it was for sure that both the PPP and the PML-N would be rooted in the area. On the other hand, the PTI and other parties have not done their homework. The GBUM leader expressed the hope that the Tehreek-e-Islami, PTI, MQM and other parties would support him. He said that the federalist political parties were planning to use huge amounts of money to buy votes but the people of Rondu would give them a thrashing defeat. He said if he won the elections, he would make Rondu a model area in the region. He also said that in case he reached the assembly, he would fight to eliminate corruption and nepotism in the area.
